This video shows a high-ranking member of Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic security service. The 17-year old Israeli who took this video and posted it on YouTube has been arrested as it is illegal to reveal and publicise such information.
Avigdor Arieli, the head of Shin Bet’s ‘Jewish Division’, lives in a settlement in the West Bank and his role it to monitor extreme right-wing Israeli settlers. Haaretz reports that his identity, despite being officially a secret, is well-known in the area.
As the sage Michael Dunn notes,
if the hardline settlers are out to get him, he must be doing something right.

Israel’s Knesset committed its second serious breach of national security in a year after posting a list of senior Shin Bet and Mossad agents on its website. Similarly, last year they posted information pertaining to Israel’s defense related technology. This is quite the faux pas for a country with one of the most vaunted intelligence services in the world.
Curiously enough, literally minutes before I read this (via the Mideasti blog) I stumbled upon a list of 100+ MI6 agents throughout the world, their postings, ranks and diplomatic placement history. Clearly, the internet is a bad thing and should be banned.

Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas’ revered co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, has revealed himself as a spy for Israel’s domestic intelligence service Shin Bet. For more than 10 years Yousef helped Israeli authorities prevent dozens of suicide attacks and reported key intelligence to Israel “on an almost daily basis from 1996 onwards.”
The Times of London continues and describes his pivotal role in arresting some of Israel’s most wanted such as Marwan Barghouti, his invaluable insight into the organization and his role in literally tracking down a suicide bomber in 2007. Yousef is revealing all these fascinating details in his book Son of Hamas, much to the displeasure of Shin Bet who are worried that it will reveal too many of their procedures and methods.
